GBS non-sportscast & the Great Ice Storm of 2008
I had a huge Sportscast planned this week to celebrate the upcoming Superbowl between the Slackers and BLS, but Mother Nature is a Bitch. As you've probably read in the papers or seen on the news, or in the case of J Mo, Chase, The Ricker, Kaylee Bailey, and the Commish, experienced; North Central Massachusetts has been without power since last Thursday night- 8 days as you're reading this. Some of us are at the relatives, and Chase and I drove 160 miles last Sunday to buy generators which have been running 24-7 since then to power up the basics. My internet is down, so I have no way of posting a sportscast if I could. This email will have to suffice.
Well we have a great matchup, #1 BLS vs #2 Slackers.
Lance, after 5 seasons of humility, managed to make it to last year's bowl, coming up just short, but he picked up where he left off last season with a 13-2 run to make it to this years dance. He could be the team with the most dominant season in GBS history, but if last year's Patriots told us anything, you gotta win the big one or it don't count.
Shane's Slackers, the 2005 GBS champions, are looking to be the second team in GBS history to win the title for the second time.
Good luck to both Lance Hoffman and Shane English, two of the original 6, and may the best man win.
We will be back next week with the results. Happy Hannukah to you, hope your holidays are merry & bright.

Move over your holyness...
Peyton Manning, Tony Romo, and Tom Brady are at the Pearly Gates.
God asks Peyton Manning first: "What do you believe?"
Peyton thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye, and says,
"I believe in hard work, and in staying true to family and friends. I
believe in giving. I was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my
fans."
God can't help but see the essential goodness of Manning, and offers him
a seat to his left.
Then God turns to Tony Romo and says, "What do you believe?"
Tony says, "I believe passion, discipline, courage and honor are the
fundamentals of life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've al
ways tried to be a true sportsman, both on and off the playing fields."
God is greatly moved by Tony's sincere eloquence, and he offers him a
seat to his right.
Finally, God turns to Tom Brady: "And you, Tom, what do you believe?"
Tom replies, "I believe you're in my s eat."
